Pierre et Vacances Apartment Chains
Pierre et Vacances are the largest provider of self catering apartments in Europe. Apartments are located blocks of apartments(residences) to holiday villages. The latter offer sporting activities such as golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts and adventure playgrounds for children.
Locations range from the seaside to cities to mountain (Ski) resorts. Not all seaside locations are open all year. The mountain locations open only in the ski season (Winter and Spring) as well as July and August.
My family have stayed at Pierre et Vacances a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our children got involved with the activity clubs and took part in the end of week "Spectacle" even though on one occasion they were the only British participants. Apartments are well specified, often including dishwasher in the kitchen. They even supply cleaning tablets for it. TV hire is now included and usually comes with a selection of satellite channels from around the world.
Pierre et Vacances have expanded to other countries other than France and now have properties in Spain and Italy as well as some of the French Islands in the Caribbean.
Prices vary considerably according to the season. Seaside apartments have peak season during the Summer School Holidays i.e. August. The mountain resorts have peak prices during February for the French School skiing holidays. These resorts are very good value in the Summer months.

The site is available in English, French, Italian and German. The site is navigated by the use of maps or drop down menus to your chosen destination in France, Spain, Italy or the West Indies.
P & V are particularly good for families as there are Clubs for children of all ages. Information is provided on the resorts selected including leisure activities, the facilities at the resorts which can range from Golf, Tennis etc. to Thallasotherapy. In addition the places of interest in the vicinity are covered.
The only thing remaining is either to order a brochure or book your stay. All made easy via the site.

Pierre et Vacances apartments range from 2 person studios though to 6 or 8 person multiple room apartments. They come with a well equipped kitchen with fridge, hotplates and mini oven. In many instances microwaves and dishwashers are included.
Kitchen utensils are not the same as those found in the UK. You will not find a teapot for example. Linen and towels are now included in the rental price, but you may need to collect linen and towels and make up your bed or pay extra to get your beds made up.
Apartments usually have a balcony with patio furniture. They have a bathroom with bath and shower.
