Formule 1With 380 Hotels, Formule 1 are probably the leading provider of super budget hotels. They are part of the ACCOR Group, the world's largest hotel network, comprising numerous hotel chains including Mercure, Novotel, Ibis and ETAP. Formule 1 Hotels are currently getting a revamp with new room decorations and new logos etc.

Formule 1 hotels are basic but functional, above all they are cheap! Prices start at 28 Euros (11/09) for a room. Our family comprised two adults and two teenage sons, we would book two rooms. We  always found the hotels to be clean and the management friendly.

Save 10% by booking 30 days in advance

Formule 1 hotels are even cheaper if booked 30 days in advance. If you do, you will save 10% on their already cheap rates.
France has the majority of the hotels, but Formule 1 has a presence throughout Europe, as well as Australia and South Africa. They have an ambitious building programme and add new hotels to the chain at regular intervals.

Locations are usually on the outskirts of cities and towns and are quite often in industrial estates. You cannot therefore expect a view. The advantage of these locations, is that trips through city and town centres are usually not required when traveling to your hotel. In fact a few hotels are close to Autoroute exits. All hotels have car parking facilities some of them with secured parking. Your room entry code will open the gates after hours.

Rooms are only accessible via reception which is open from 06:30 to 10:00 (07:30 to 10:30 Sundays and Bank Holidays) and from 17:00 to 22:00. Outside these hours you can telephone a reservation 6:30 to 22:00 (7:00 to 22:00 Sundays). Alternatively you can pay for your room with an automatic booking machine outside the reception using a credit card (Eurocard, Mastercard, CB, Visa, American Express). Entry to your room is by electronic lock using the code number supplied. The same code also opens the main door to Reception.

Rooms are small, but come furnished with a double bed and overhead bunk bed. They have a washbasin, small writing shelf and chair as well as a remote control colour TV. In France most of the chain has had a makeover with new furnishings, LCD TV's, WiFi (by payment of a subscription) and new logos. Toilets and showers are located at the end of each corridor.

These toilets are have fully automated cleaning cycles so don't leave your towel hanging up after you leave or it will be soaked!

Breakfast is available in the Reception area or outside if the weather is nice. It comprises an "eat as much as you like" continental breakfast of bread, jams, coffee etc.
