Ryanair flights struck by lightning

In one of today's news items from Ryanair, they report delays yesterday (Sunday 19 February 2006)on some of their flights from Santander in Northern Spain. It appears that no less than four Ryanair aircraft were struck by lightning as they approached Santander. Three aircraft landed normally and one diverted to Valladolid.

The aircraft were all thoroughly checked and two received repairs before resuming service. They apolgised for the delays to passengers emphasising that safety of passengers and aircraft is their No1 priority.

What amazes me is that four Ryanair aircraft should be struck by lightning on the same day. Is this a common occurrence when flying?
